Capital Rx

American Greetings is continually managing our healthcare program to control our costs and yours.

In the Consumer and Enhanced Consumer plans, non-preventive prescription drugs are treated like any other medical expense. You pay the full cost of prescriptions until your deductible is met. You can pay for prescriptions from your HSA, HRA or out-of-pocket. Once you meet the deductible, you pay a percentage of the cost for prescriptions.

In the Traditional Plan, prescription drugs are not subject to the deductible but are subject to co-insurance.

Preventive Drugs

Preventive Drugs are designed to help individuals avert and avoid disease. Preventive drug medications are those taken regularly to prevent certain health conditions. They are:

  • Taken by someone who has developed risk factors for a disease or condition that  has not yet become a health issue,
  • Taken to prevent a disease or condition that is no longer showing symptoms from occurring again (i.e., cholesterol or blood pressure),
  • Used as part of procedures providing preventive services, for instance smoking cessation.

The Affordable Care Act (ACA) requires some preventive drugs to be covered at 100%. Other preventive drugs are subject to co-insurance. This means you will not have to meet your deductible but you pay the coinsurance amount applicable to the type of drug you are getting, for instance generic or name brand.

To see if your prescriptions are covered go to enrollment.cap-rx.com/?client=amgreetings or call Capital Rx at (833) 599-1016.

Non-Preventive Drugs

The Consumer plans cover non-preventive drugs subject to the deductible and co-insurance. Under the Traditional Plan, non-preventive drugs are not subject to the deductible but are subject to co-insurance.
